The Speaker of the Macedonian Assembly
Introduction
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of
Macedonia is elected from among the members of parliament by a majority
vote - 61 MPs, out of the total number of members of parliament. The term
of the President is four years.
The President of the Assembly represents the Assembly,
convenes and conducts the Assembly sessions, makes sure that the Rules
of Procedure are applied, signs the decrees for proclaiming laws and exercises
other activities stipulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Macedonia
and the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.
The Vice-Presidents of the Assembly of the Republic
of Macedonia help the President of the Assembly to exercise his function
and replace him in the case of his absence or inability to attend. The
Vice-Presidents of the Assembly are elected from among the members of parliament
and their term is four years.

Professor Dr. Savo Klimovski was born in Skopje
in 1947. He graduated from the Law
Faculty in Skopje, 1970. Later, in 1975 he completed master's degree,
and accomplished his Ph.D. in Ljubjana in 1979 in the field of law science.
He was appointed a teaching position at the Law
Faculty in Skopje after graduation in 1971, later for a position of
lecturer (docent), associate professor and now a full professor at the
Faculty. He was Dean of the Law
Faculty in Skopje for two mandates, 1992 - 1996. Furthermore, he was
a member of the Executive Board of the Assembly of the Socialist Republic
of Macedonia and President of the Republic Committee on Education, Culture
and Physical Culture from 1986 to 1990. He was also president of the Senate
of the University "St. Cyril and Methodius"
- Skopje. He has published numerous articles and books including Constitutional
Law, Political System and Parliamentary Law and more than one hundred scientific
works from the field of law science. He was a founder of the Democratic
Alternative and member of the party's leadership. |
